White Willow Bark
White willow bark comes from the white willow tree (Salix alba), a species native to Europe and Western and Central Asia. The tree thrives in moist soils along rivers and streams and has long, slender leaves with a silvery underside that give it its name. Its key medicinal compound is salicin, a natural chemical that the body converts into salicylic acid, a precursor to aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid). This gives white willow bark its pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory effects.
Feverfew
Feverfew is a small, daisy-like herb native to southeastern Europe and western Asia, now grown worldwide. Traditionally used to treat fevers, headaches, and arthritis, it’s best known today for helping prevent migraines. Its main active compound is parthenolide, which has anti-inflammatory and vasodilatory effects. Feverfew also contains flavonoids and volatile oils that contribute to its medicinal properties.
Peppermint
Peppermint is a natural hybrid of watermint and spearmint, native to Europe and the Middle East, and now cultivated worldwide. It’s valued for its cooling, soothing properties and refreshing aroma. Its key active compounds include menthol, menthone, and menthyl acetate, which give peppermint its characteristic flavor and medicinal effects. Peppermint is commonly used to ease digestive discomfort, relieve headaches, and soothe muscle tension.
